Joey Corp Homearama 2008
Sold! The sale of the first of the 2008 Homearama homes in the Ashville Park community in southern Virginia Beach officially closed June 30, 2009.
It’s a sale many hope marks a turning point in what has been a sluggish market for high-end homes. I think we’re coming out of this,” said veteran Homearama builder Sam Cohen of Joey Corp. “More people are out looking – there’s generally just a lot more activity. I really think the worst is behind us.”
The home, offering its new owners over 6,000 square feet of living space, was named “The Big League” for its Homearama debut, in honor of local baseball players who have made it to the major leagues.
It won critic’s choice gold awards for best kitchen, best family room and best master suite and was judged “Most Livable” by the Hampton Roads Realtors Association., in addition to numerous other awards.
Cohen says the home sold because it met the needs of the buyer. “They were planning to build in this community and they realized they could buy a Homearama home that fit their needs. They have four daughters and each of the bedrooms has its own bathroom.”
Another of the seven Homearama houses is home to the builder who built it. He had sold his personal residence prior to Homearama with plans to move in to what he and his wife consider a dream home.
