I. Reese Smith Jr., owner of Reese Smith Construction and co-owner of Builder Solutions, took office as Tidewater Builders Association's 2015 president on Dec. 10. Smith has been a TBA member since 2001 and was appointed to the board in 2007.  He has been co-chair of the association’s Suffolk Municipal Affairs Committee and chair of the TBA Scholarship Selection Subcommittee.  A graduate of George Mason University, with an MBA from Old Dominion University, he currently sits on the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act Board. He will serve on the boards of directors of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Home Builders Association of Virginia (HBAV).

Erin S. Widener, president of The Widener Corporation, is serving as vice president.  She was first appointed to the Board in 2008.  Widener is a graduate of Virginia Tech RB Pamplin College of Business and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing.  In addition to serving as vice president, she will also be co-chairing the BTA Charity Golf and Chesapeake Municipal Affairs committees in 2015.

James R. “Jim” Ferber, president of Monarch Bank’s Real Estate and Construction Group, is serving as associate vice president.  First appointed to the Board in 2013, he was named associate vice president in May 2013. Ferber is a founding member of Monarch Bank and holds an MBA degree from Pace University.  He is currently serving as recruiting co-chair of The Cornerstone Foundation and was named TBA Member of the Year in 2012 and 2013.

Douglas C. Smith, vice president of construction and sales at Hearndon Construction, is serving as treasurer.  He was first named to the Board in 2011.  Smith is a graduate of Virginia Tech and received his MA from George Washington University.  He is an Executive Board member of the Chesapeake Public Schools Education Foundation and is a member of the Great Bridge Rotary and the Chesapeake Economic Development Committee.

Eric J. Sasser
Immediate Past President
Eric J. Sasser is managing member of Sasser Construction LC, a Portsmouth-based custom home builder. Sasser, a TBA member since 1987, was first appointed to the board in 2010 and served as treasurer in 2013.  He has served as Spring 2010 Homearama Committee chair.  He built the Charity House to benefit The Boys & Girls Club in 2010, and has since built two additional houses in the 2011 Fall Homearama. In addition to being a Southern Living Custom Home Program builder, Sasser is also the Southern Living 2010 Custom Builder of the Year, a certified green professional and graduate of the Builder Institute.

Channing A. Pfeiffer
Chief Executive Officer
Pfeiffer serves as chief executive officer of TBA, a position he has held since 1986. He has been with TBA since 1981. Prior to joining TBA in 1981, he served as director of the National Association of Home Builders’ Multi-Housing Division and as national coordinator for the National Association of Home Builders’ apprenticeship training programs. He has his master’s degree in management from the University of Virginia and a bachelor of arts degree from Randolph-Macon College. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the Home Builders Association of Virginia Executive Officers Council, and serves as regional director of the National Association of Home Builders Executive Officers Council. He is a past board member and volunteer of the year of the Hampton Roads YMCA and was vice chairman of the Tidewater Boys Scout Council.
