A crowd of 25,850 visitors attended the Mid-Atlantic Home & Flower Show held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center Feb. 15-18. It was the largest attendance on record since Tidewater Builders Association began hosting its annual home and garden show 22 years ago.

This event was a first time collaboration between the Mid-Atlantic Home & Garden Show and The Virginia Flower Show, produced by Tidewater Builders Association and the Virginia Horticultural Foundation

Congratulations to the winners of the great prizes given away by some of the show’s vendors:

• Paul Hartle of Virginia Beach won a home media system from Home Theaters by DAS and a media cabinet and seating system from Value City Furniture.
• Marva Gregor of Virginia Beach won a closet organization system from Closet Factory and a consultation with a professional organizer.
• James McCrea of Newport News won a Kirkland Signature stainless steel grill from Costco Wholesale.
• Jim Hyatt of Virginia Beach won a complete garage makeover system from Garage Concepts Inc.
• Billy McClean of Norfolk won a membership in Direct Buy in a raffle to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
• Joseph San Clement of Virginia Beach won an assortment of plants and gift certificates in a raffle to benefit The Virginia Horticultural Foundation.

The show featured nearly 500 exhibits displaying products and services for the home and garden and a continuous line-up of presentations from experts in the field of horticulture, interior design, pet training and outdoor living.

Norfolk residents Dana Cherry and her daughter, Destany, received the keys to a modular home on display at the show at a ribbon cutting on Thursday evening. The project was coordinated by Tidewater Builders Association and Habitat for Humanity. It was built by SGB Homes and Haven Homes, who are moving the structure to a lot contributed by the City of Norfolk.

An elaborate canine fashion show was one of the weekend's highlights and featured a variety of exotic breeds of dogs from around the world.
