CHKD patient to dedicate TBA Charity House
April 24, 11 a.m., Wilshire Village of Ashville Park, Virginia Beach

Fourteen-year-old Conner Glenn Snead of Chesapeake will be a guest of honor at the dedication of the Tidewater Builders Association’s 2008 Charity House at the site of this year’s Homearama showcase of homes. Proceeds from the sale of the home will benefit Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, where Conner has been treated since he was 9-months-old for the rare disorder partial trisomy 18.

In his honor, the home is being named “The Conner Glenn.” It is being constructed by Herb Watson, of The Walters Company, and sponsored by Monarch Bank.  It will incorporate contributions from suppliers and subcontractors.

Representatives from the City of Virginia Beach, Tidewater Builders Association, Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, Monarch Bank and L.M. Sandler & Sons Inc., developers of the Ashville Park neighborhood will join Conner as guest “bricklayers” in a cornerstone laying ceremony.

The 2008 Charity House is one of nine showcase custom homes under construction for this year’s Homearama, which is located in the Wilshire Village section of Ashville Park in Virginia Beach. Since 1988, TBA members have helped build 19 Charity Houses, which have raised more than $1 million for local children’s programs.

Homearama will be open to the public October 3-19. A charity preview event to benefit CHKD is scheduled for Thursday, October 2. For directions to Homearama and more information on this year’s biggest home show, visit
