Students invited to apply for 2009 Tidewater Builders Association Scholarship Foundation Awards

High School Seniors in Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore of Virginia have until Friday, March 20 to apply for scholarship funds from The Tidewater Builders Association Scholarship Foundation. Since 1965, the TBA Scholarship Foundation has awarded 379 students a total of $1,375,000. Last year ten students were awarded scholarships of $7500 each.

Scholarship awards will be based on academic performance, community service and financial need. The four-year scholarships can be applied to any field of study.

The TBA Scholarship Foundation is supported by proceeds from the sale of an annual scholarship house, rent from an annual scholarship apartment, and endowments and contributions from TBA member firms and individuals.

Applications are available from high school guidance counselors in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Franklin and Southampton County schools, as well as the Eastern Shore of Virginia. They can also be downloaded from the TBA web site at www.tbaonline.org under the "scholarships" link or by calling TBA at 420-2434 extension 281.
