Custom home builders, interior designers and landscaping companies were recognized for their contributions to Homearama 2009, which kicked off at Culpepper Landing with Critics’ Choice awards presentations on Friday, Oct. 2.
This year’s Homearama, Oct. 3–18, features 12 showcase homes in the mixed-use neighborhood of Culpepper Landing. The annual event, produced by Tidewater Builders Association, is designed to stimulate interest in new housing and homeownership.
The winner of the coveted Critics’ Choice Best Home in Show gold award was Next Level Group LLC for Morningside Manor. Morningside Manor also won the Associate’s Choice for Best Special Product Feature, as well as the gold awards for Most Creative, Best Craftsmanship, Best Integration of Technology, Best Driveway and Best Curb Appeal.
WATAB Construction Corp. took home the Hampton Roads Realtors Association Award for Most Livable Home for The Elderberry. The Best Green Feature went to The Whitaker by SGB Homes for its geothermal closed-loop HVAC system.

Visitors to Homearama 2009 now through Oct. 18 can cast their votes in the exhibit tent for People’s Choice Awards for best house in show, best interior merchandising and best landscaping. The results will be announced in November.
