Schedule of Events

A solid lineup of speakers will provide inspiration for the home and garden with a range of topics. They’ll be presenting on both The Bud’s Heating & Air Conditioning Idea Stage (IS) and The Garden Theater. (GT)

Friday, April 15
10 a.m.: Ann Weber of Smithfield Gardens presents “Container Gardening.” Her tips and will help visitors get started on the road to a beautiful container garden. GT

Noon: Ann Weber, with Smithfield Gardens, presents“Butterfly Gardening.” Weber shares advice for attracting these colorful creatures to their garden and how to protect them. GT

1 p.m.: Nina Efird, an Assistant Vice President with SunTrust Mortgage in Newport News, will present “Construction, Permanent Loans, Building or Remodeling.” This presentation is ideal for visitors considering buying a home, building a home or upgrading their current home. IS

4 p.m.: Nina Efird, “Construction, Permanent Loans, Building or Remodeling.” IS

6 p.m.: Eugene Baker of CE Baker Construction conducts the “Ask a Remodeler” question and answer session. Visitors are invited to bring their questions. IS

7 p.m.: Wiley Walters with the Virginia Peninsula Rose Society presents “The Basics of Roses.” Complete with informational handouts, he’ll reveal the secrets of how to grow and maintain roses. GT

Saturday, April 16
10 a.m.: Wiley Walters, “The Basics of Roses”GT

12:30 p.m.: Bud’s Heating and Air Conditioning and Marc Cassel of Aprilaire present “It’s Not the Heat, It’s the Humidity.” Here, visitors can learn how to eliminate stuffy, sticky summertime air in their entire home. IS

1 p.m.: Andrew Dan-Jumbo, celebrity carpenter on the hit show While You Were Out, shares show secrets and his thoughts on the success of home makeover shows. This presentation is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser. IS

2 p.m.: Ellen Whitehurst, an internationally lauded lifestyles consultant and award-winning feng shui speaker, brings her brand of wit and wisdom as she teaches the tenets of what she calls “Fun” shui. IS

3 p.m.: Learn about gardening and have some fun with Kathy Van Mullekom, gardening and home columnist for the Daily Press, when she conducts the “What Plant Is This?” game. Some lucky participants will win some gardening prizes. GT

3:30 p.m.: Bud’s Heating and Air Conditioning and Will Reed of Honeywell present “Is the Air in Your Home Making You Sick?” This presentation will help those plagued with allergies, dry skin or sinus problems and want to improve their indoor air quality and health. IS

4 p.m.: Andrew Dan-Jumbo IS

5 p.m.: Ellen Whitehurst “`Fun’ Shui” IS

7 p.m.: Eugene Baker “Ask a Remodeler” IS

Sunday, April 17

11:30 a.m.: Bud’s Heating and Air Conditioning and Dave Buell of Honeywell present “How to Increase Comfort and Energy Savings in Your Home Through Indoor Air Quality Control” Visitors will earn to stay comfortable and healthy in their homes while saving money. IS
