Tidewater Builders Association's Green Building Council is hosting a three-day green building course for building professionals wishing to earn the exclusive "Certified Green Professional" (CGP) Designation from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

The course is designed to teach industry professionals strategies for incorporating green principles into homes using cost-effective and affordable options.

The program is divided into two courses: Green Building for Building Professionals is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 29 and 30; and Business Management for Building Professionals, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 1. Green Building for Building Professionals counts towards (12) HSW/SD AIA credits. The Business Management course counts towards (6) AIA Credits.

Deadline to register is April 15. The total cost for both courses is $395 for NAHB members and $495 for non-members. Both courses are required for certification; however, members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) seeking continuing education credit only may attend the Business Management Course for $135 for TBA members and $165 for non-members.

The course instructor is Tom Stephani, CGP, GMB, MCSP, a nationally recognized speaker and trainer on issues relating to the residential construction industry and is currently the Chairman of the National Sales and Marketing Council and serves on the NAHB International Over-Sight Group. He is also a Life Director of NAHB. Instruction will take place in the TBA Board room, located at 2117 Smith Ave., Chesapeake.
