John W. Ainslie Jr., president of Ainslie Group, a Virginia Beach home builder/developer, has been appointed to serve as a representative of the National Association of Home Builders on the International Code Council’s Mechanical/Plumbing Code Committee for a two-year term that began January 1, 2012. 

The ICC Committees are the foundation upon which the system of the ICC International Codes standards and related services are built.  Code changes for the 2015 International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, and International Fuel Gas Code are currently being accepted.

The committee will weigh in on proposed code changes prior to the code change hearings. “More builders should get involved in submitting code changes or voicing either their support or their opposition to proposed changes,” said Ainslie. “We are in the best position to know the effects these have on building safety.”

Ainslie is a past president of Tidewater Builders Association.  He served on the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development Statewide Building Code Technical Review Board from 2004-2010 and currently serves on the Virginia Board of Housing & Community Development. He is also a member of the National Association of Home Builders Chinese Drywall Task Force.
