Tidewater Builders Association’s Fall Homearama 2011 will be returning to The Riverfront at Harbour View in Suffolk from Oct. 15-30. The show will feature 10 homes that will face the community's signature center island parks, over an acre in size.

Ten years and 1,000 families later, Tidewater Builders Association is coming back to The Riverfront at Harbour View for its 2011 Fall Homearama. The resort-style community, developed by East West Communities, last hosted Homearama in 2001, when it drew more than 100,000 visitors over a two-week period.

This year’s event, set for Oct. 15-30, features homes built facing one of the community’s signature center island parks, over an acre in size, which provides scenic views from every front porch. To date, seven builders will be constructing 10 homes ranging from 2,800 square feet to 4,000-plus square feet in the showcase event.

“We feel extremely fortunate to work with East West Communities on another first-class event,” said TBA President Bill Halprin. “Their communities are known for their beautiful landscaping and upscale curb appeal, as well as the resort lifestyle they offer.”

The event offers consumers a chance to see the latest innovations in new home designs and products for the home, said Halprin. “This event serves as our industry’s ‘buy now’ campaign,” he added. “It’s designed to stimulate people to take advantage of one of the best home buyers markets that we’ve seen in years.” The Homearama home prices are expected to start in the low $550,000s.

Building in the showcase event are: Charlie Anderson, Charlie Anderson Builder Inc., Chesapeake; Sam Cohen and Jeff Bruzzesi, Joey Corp./The Closet Factory, Chesapeake; Chip Iuliano, ABT Custom Homes LLC, Suffolk; Michael Newsome, Clark-Whitehill Enterprises, Virginia Beach; Les Ore, Ore Builders LLC, Chesapeake; Stephen, Steve and Alexander Quick, Stephen Alexander Homes LLC, Chesapeake; and Eric Sasser, Sasser Construction LC, Portsmouth. Of those, ABT Custom Homes LLC, Ore Builders and Sasser Construction LC will each be building two homes.

This Fall Homearama’s Charity House is being built to benefit The TBA Scholarship Foundation. Michael Newsome, chairman of the Scholarship Foundation, and his company, Clark-Whitehill, will be building the house in honor of scholarship recipient Justin Kauflin. Kauflin, a jazz pianist who has played at the Kennedy Center and released his own CD, and other recipients will be a part of this effort.

The Riverfront offers scenic views of the Nansemond and James Rivers and a convenient location in the midst of the shops, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theater and health & wellness facilities of Harbour View.

The award-winning community offers a long list of amenities which include golf, volleyball, tennis, two waterfront parks with piers, playgrounds, a lakeside amphitheater, walking and jogging paths, bike trails and a Swim Club with two outdoor pools, clubhouse & a full-time activities director.

Select Homearama sites, which are priced from $135,000 to $152,500 and average a half-acre in size, are still available. Builders interested in participating should contact Sandra Amidon at (757) 305-9045 or [email protected].
